X-H19 Horizontal Panel Substructure

X-H19 Visible Panel Fastening System

The X-H19 visible/exposed architectural panel fastening system delivers significant innovations in design and cost savings.

Innovative Horizontal Attachment Design

The Xkelex exclusive H19 visible (exposed) fastening system allows the installer to eliminate a vertical girt and attach horizontally to the stud wall using a perforated substructure to provide the necessary moisture drainage and airflow to have a successful ventilated rainscreen facade.

Solves Common Vertical Attachment Challenges

A common problem with drained and back-ventilated rainscreen is the attachment of the vertical substructure, which does not align well with the structural stud wall.

Factors include

  • The panel design or shape
  • The panel manufacturer’s requirements for attachment spacing
  • Project engineering requirements may require using horizontal backing plates across the stud wall prior to the exterior gypsum board. These backing plates allow for load transfer back to the structural wall. This is often missed in the cost or design phase!

Our H19 system provides a unique horizontal attachment option with a 40% perforated hat or zee profile that allows for attachment at 16 inches or 32 inches on center stud walls. The system eliminates the need for a backing plate while also creating a 3/4 inch depth rainscreen cavity.

Easily Control Cavity Depth

Thermal break pads may be designed into the system to bring the cavity depth from 1 inch to 2-1/4 inch depth.

Cost Savings

The X-H19 two-component assembly reduces component and labor/installation costs.
